Cooking Hacks to Get You Through Thanksgiving Dinner

Thanksgiving is probably one of the most stressful holidays of the year (in a good way, of course)! If you are in charge of cooking the Thanksgiving meal, then you know exactly what we are talking about. Food prep starts either ridiculously early in the morning or the night before. Either way, it’s a whole lot of work! But, this year, we’ve got a few tricks up our sleeves that we want to share with you to help you out in the kitchen. Take a look at a few cooking hacks to help you with your Thanksgiving feast.

Fluffy mashed potatoes – If you want to impress your guests with some deliciously fluffy mashed potatoes, all you need to do is add a little bit of baking powder!

Microwave potatoes – Speaking of mashed potatoes, if you are in a crunch for time or stovetop space, you can pop your potatoes into the microwave instead of boiling them and they will cook just as nicely as a pot of water! Just make sure to use a microwave safe bowl on high for about 8 minutes (or until they are done).

Soy sauce gravy – If you forgot to save your turkey droppings or maybe you have some vegetarian friends coming over, just use a little bit of soy sauce as the base for your gravy. Sounds weird but it tastes great!

Ice your turkey – This may sound weird, but it is the perfect solution to keep your turkey breast from drying out. The science to it is that by lowering the temperature of the breast you fix the issue of the white meat cooking faster than the dark meat.

Chicken broth for dried out turkey – If you did happen to overcook your turkey, life isn’t over! You can easily revive your dried-out turkey with a little bit of chicken broth. Just warm up a bit of broth and poor it on the dried turkey meat and, BOOM, you have a delicious, juicy turkey again!

Roast your turkey with aluminum – Say what? Yes, we said it. Roast your turkey with aluminum. There’s no need to run out and buy a roasting rack. All you have to do is roll up your foil into a long log shape and shape it like a rack. Place that in the pan where you will bake your turkey and let the roasting begin! Learn exactly how to do it here.
